Balaghat (Madhya Pradesh): A fierce gun battle broke out between security forces and LeftWing Extremists (LWE) in the dense forests of Rajadera Kekdewada under the Hatta police station area in Balaghat district. No injuries were reported from either side.
The clash took place on Saturday morning when a team from the Special Task Force (STF), conducting anti-Naxal operations, was carrying out a search in the area.
According to Additional Superintendent of Police KL Banjare, around 18 to 20 armed Naxalites, wearing uniforms, opened fire on the security personnel. The STF retaliated, leading to an exchange of gunfire. However, the extremists managed to escape, utilising the dense forest terrain to their advantage.

Following the encounter, security forces conducted a search of the area and recovered a grenade launcher, a magazine, seven live cartridges, and several essential supplies, including rice, sugar, soybean balls, oil, and tea leaves.
ASP Banjaresaid that approximately 90 rounds were fired during the gunfight. Based on the report filed by in-charge Rampadam Sharma, a case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Investigations into the incident are on.
