Madhya Pradesh: Minor rape victim throws newborn in well, five arrested

The incident was reported when on September 20, the body of the newborn was found in a well near Hanuman temple in Kadwaya village. The police took out the newborn and sent the body for postmortem. The PM report revealed that the newborn was thrown alive in the well and died due to drowning in water.

Ashok Nagar (Madhya Pradesh): A bizarre incident came to the fore in Ashoknagar when a minor rape victim gave birth to a child and threw it in the well.

The incident was reported when on September 20, the body of the newborn was found in a well near Hanuman temple in Kadwaya village.

The police took out the newborn and sent the body for postmortem. The PM report revealed that the newborn was thrown alive in the well and died due to drowning in water.

During a preliminary investigation, the police came to know that a 14-year-old girl from the village had given birth to the baby.

The police took the girl into custody and interrogated her.

The victim narrated her ordeal to the police and said that her cousin, along with her four friends was exploiting her for the last nine months.

The victim lost her mother when she was small and lives with her father. One day in October 2020, while she was alone at home, the accused came and molested her.

After this, the accused forced her to have a relationship with the other three friends by threatening her. For the last 11 months, the accused exploited her several times.

She became pregnant and on September 20, she gave birth to a child. Fearing of society, she threw the newborn in the well.

Following the complaint, the police arrested five accused, of which two are minor.

The police have registered a case against the accused under 376 and under the POSCO Act.

The police have sent the girl to the Children's Observation Home and will present both the minor accused in the Juvenile Court on Monday.
