Fifteen fire tenders were rushed to the spot on receiving the information.

Katni (Madhya Pradesh): A massive fire broke out at a plastic factory in the Madhav Nagar police station area, damaging goods worth rupees crores on Friday, said the police.

As many as 7 fire brigades were deployed and had to take 69 rounds to douse the maginfying flames.

"A massive fire broke out at Gurunanak Plastics factory in Madhav Nagar police station area, 15 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to extinguish the fire," said the police.

According to information, the workers saw smoke coming out of the second floor of the factory at around 6 am when they reached for work. They immediately informed the operator Om Sachdeva after which, seven fire brigade vehicles were rushed to the spot. To get control over the fire, water was poured inside the building after breaking several parts of the wall with the help of a crane.

However, even after 69 rounds of pouring water, the fire is yet to be fully controlled. 

Plastic goods worth crores gutted

Plastic goods with an estimated worth of crores of rupees, including many machines have been burnt to ashes. 

Katni collector Avi Prasad, who reached the spot, said, “As soon as the information about the fire in the plastic factory in the industrial area of Madhavnagar came to light, 7 fire brigades were called to douse the fire. As of now, we have managed to control the flames to a large extent.”

He further said that the reason behind the fire is not yet known.
