Madhya Pradesh June 27 Weather Update: State Braces For Heavy Rains; Orange Alerts Issued, 8 Inches Rain Likely In Jhabua, Alirajpur & More

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A strong weather system is currently active in Madhya Pradesh, causing continuous rain in many areas since Friday morning.

A cyclonic circulation is present over the northeastern part of the state, while a trough is passing through the southern part, leading to increased rainfall.

Weather Forecast

June 27: Very heavy rain in Jhabua and Alirajpur (orange alert). Heavy rain likely in Rajgarh, Vidisha, Raisen, Sagar, Damoh, Seoni, Umaria, Dindori, Mandla, and Balaghat. Yellow alert in Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur, and Gwalior.

June 28: Heavy rain alert for Bhind, Morena, Damoh, Jabalpur, Seoni, Balaghat, Mandla, Dindori, and Anuppur. Winds and rain expected in other districts.

June 29: Heavy rain alert for Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi, Datia, and Bhind. Rain likely in Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Gwalior, and other districts.

June 30: Very heavy rain in Damoh, Panna, and Katni (orange alert). Heavy rain expected in Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Ashoknagar, Satna, Jabalpur, and Umaria. Yellow alert for other districts.

Senior meteorologist Dr. Divya E. Surendran said that rain will continue in the state for the next five days.

This year, the monsoon reached India eight days early, though it did not enter Madhya Pradesh as expected in the first week of June.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), very heavy rain is expected in Jhabua and Alirajpur, where up to 8 inches of rain may fall in the next 24 hours.

An orange alert has been issued for these two districts. Ten other districts – Rajgarh, Vidisha, Raisen, Sagar, Damoh, Seoni, Umaria, Dindori, Mandla, and Balaghat – are under heavy rain alert. Meanwhile, a yellow alert for rainfall is in place for Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Gwalior, and other districts.

On Thursday evening, Mandsaur experienced heavy rain for about 1.5 hours, which led to waterlogging in several areas – with water reaching up to 2 feet. An Activa rider fell into a drain on Station Road due to an open chamber and overflowing water but was rescued by locals.

A trough line is currently extending from the northeast Arabian Sea through south Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, reaching the northwestern Bay of Bengal. A low-pressure area is also active along this path. Additionally, a cyclonic circulation is active in northeast Madhya Pradesh.
