Madhya Pradesh July 12 Weather Updates: Water Level Rises In Mandakini River, Several Ghats Submerge; Very Heavy Rain To Continue In Eastern MP

The weather department has issued orange alert for very heavy rainfall in 10 districts and yellow alert for heavy rainfall in 35 districts today.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Heavy rainfall has caused rivers to swell, further disconnecting several villages. Water-clogging has been reported across several areas. The water level of Mandakini river has increased rapidly due to continuous rain for two days in Chitrakoot. All the major ghats including Ramghat, Bharatghat have been submerged.

The road to Maa Sharda Mata temple in Maihar is flooded with water up to three feet. Two gates of Johila Dam of Sanjay Gandhi Thermal Power Station in Umaria were opened to release excess water.

Orange alert in eastern MP

Orange alert has been issued in mid-eastern districts of the state- Chhatarpur, Damoh, Sagar, Katni, Jabalpur, Raisen, Narsinghpur, Seoni, Chhindwara and Narmadapuram where up to 8 inches of water can fall in 24 hours.

The weather department has also issued yellow alert Bhopal, Gwalior, Ujjain, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Agar, Rajgarh, Dewas, Shajapur, Vidisha, Sehore, Harda, Betul, Pandhurna, Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Panna, Satna, Rewa, Mauganj, Maihar, Umaria, Shahdol, Anuppur, Dindori, Mandla and Balaghat. Here two and a half to four and a half inches of water in a day can fall.

Light rainfall alert has been issued to other districts of the state.

Very heavy and heavy rains are continuing in the eastern part of Madhya Pradesh: Jabalpur, Sagar, Shahdol and Rewa divisions. During the last 24 hours, Rewa received the highest rainfall of 8 inches. 7.5 inches of rain was recorded in Sidhi and 5.6 inches in Khajuraho of Chhatarpur. Tikamgarh received 3.6 inches, Satna received 3.2 inches, Narsinghpur received 3.1 inches, Sagar received 2.2 inches, Umaria received 2.1 inches and Mandla received 1.1 inches of rain.

Rain continued in many districts including Narmadapuram, Raisen, Maihar, Mauganj, Jabalpur, Balaghat, Dewas, Sehore, Shajapur, Agar-Malwa, Damoh, Gwalior, Bhopal, Ratlam, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Betul, Datia, Guna and Chhindwara.
