Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): The Madhya Pradesh High Court has upheld the dismissal of civil judge Mahendra Singh Taram, rejecting his petition for reappointment.

The court, led by Chief Justice Suresh Kumar Kait and Justice Vivek Jain, stated that the allegations against Taram were serious and proven during the investigation.

Taram faced controversy during his time in Mandla district, where he was accused of acquitting a defendant in a criminal case without a written order.

Following a complaint, the High Court formed an inquiry committee that confirmed the allegations. As a result, Taram was dismissed from service in 2014 while he was posted in Rewa.

In 2017, Taram filed a petition claiming he could not write the order on time due to excessive administrative work. However, the court rejected this argument, emphasising that judges must follow proper procedures. The court noted that freeing an accused without an order is a serious failure in the justice system.

Taram's advocate, Rameshwar Singh Thakur, argued that his client did not act maliciously and was only delayed by his workload. The court, however, stated that such an explanation does not excuse neglecting judicial duties. Ultimately, the court dismissed Taram's petition and upheld his dismissal from service.
