Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): In a major development in Madhya Pradesh’s education-sphere, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that all government colleges in the state will now function in two shifts.
He also directed that state-level grading will be done for all colleges.
During a review meeting of the Higher Education Department held at Samatva Bhavan in the CM’s residence on Thursday, CM Yadav said the importance of continuing the semester system as needed. He said this will help students complete their education without disruption.
General knowledge competitions will also be organized in each division to help students increase their awareness.
Higher Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar, who was present at the meeting, said that students’ daily attendance will now be linked to their credit scores. This move is already leading to better attendance.
CM Yadav further announced -
Awards will be introduced in three categories: Best College, Best Principal, and Best Teacher.
A 'Knowledge Mahakumbh' will be organized as a mega event to guide and inspire the youth of the state.
Colleges will be encouraged to invite top scientists at least once a year to interact with students through live discussions and group talks.
These steps aim to uplift the quality of education and inspire the youth to actively participate in academic and intellectual activities.
Research to be encouraged in state
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has also announced several key initiatives to strengthen higher education and promote research in Madhya Pradesh. He has directed officials to establish research centers in colleges to encourage research work and focus on employment-oriented education based on India’s traditional knowledge systems.
The CM emphasized that this approach will help students gain deeper understanding in science and technology. He also instructed that more colleges be opened in areas with high demand, especially in tribal regions.
Agriculture course to be introduced in colleges
To boost interest in agriculture and agri-based industries, the Chief Minister ordered that B.Sc Agriculture courses be introduced in more colleges across the state.
Currently, all 55 districts in Madhya Pradesh have a Prime Minister College of Excellence. Out of these, 37 colleges and 5 universities offer seven types of job-oriented degree and diploma courses. Around 1,200 students are enrolled in these programs.
