Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A strong rain system is getting active in Madhya Pradesh due to cyclonic circulation and monsoon trough. It has been raining heavily in Bhopal since night.

As many as seven gates of Tawa Dam in Narmadapuram have been opened up to 10 feet to release the surplus water. Similarly, seven gates of Satpura Dam in Betul have been opened up to 6 feet. The gates of Bargi Dam in Jabalpur and Barna Dam in Raisen were opened amid heavy rainfall.

School Holiday Announced in Singrauli

The effect of the low-pressure area (area of low pressure) arising from the Bay of Bengal is also being seen in Madhya Pradesh, leading to extremely heavy rainfall. There was a spell of rain in more than 30 districts of the state. Sidhi received 4.8 inches of water that fell in 8 hours. Similarly, the DEO announced a school holiday on Saturday due to heavy rain.

Similarly, one and a half inches of rain fell in Pachmarhi, Umaria, Malajkhand, Chhindwara, and Guna, and half an inch in Sagar, Gwalior, and Narmadapuram. There was a spell of rain in many districts, including Bhopal, Betul, Datia, Raisen, Shivpuri, Ujjain, Damoh, Jabalpur, Mandla, Narsinghpur, Seoni, Dindori, Singrauli, Satna, Anuppur, Mauganj, Morena, Ashoknagar, Sehore, Dewas, Rajgarh, and Shajapur.

The water level of Pagara Dam in Morena district crossed the danger mark and reached 655.88 feet. All its 6 automatic gates were opened.

Heavy Rainfall in 40 Districts

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain in at least 40 districts on Saturday. Out of these, 5 have a red alert, 21 have an orange alert, and 14 have a yellow alert. There is a red alert for extremely heavy rain in Raisen, Sagar, Damoh, Panna, Satna, and Rewa. More than 8 inches of water may fall here in the next 24 hours.

An orange alert for very heavy rain was issued in Guna, Ashoknagar, Vidisha, Sehore, Narmadapuram, Betul, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Jabalpur, Seoni, Balaghat, Mandla, Dindori, Anuppur, Umaria, Katni, Maihar, Mauganj, Sidhi, and Singrauli.

A yellow alert for heavy rain sounded in Bhopal, Gwalior, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Datia, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Rajgarh, Shajapur, Indore, Ujjain, Dewas, Khandwa, and Harda.
