Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Ten players from Madhya Pradesh played for different teams in the India Premier League (IPL) 2025, which concluded on June 3. Among them was Rajat Patidar from Indore, who captained the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), which won the trophy this year.
Patidar played all 15 matches for RCB in IPL 2025 and, with the help of two half-centuries, which came in matches against CSK and MI, scored 312 runs. Only Virat Kohli (657) and Phil Salt (403) finished the season with more runs than him.
Another big name from Madhya Pradesh was Venkatesh Iyer, also from Indore, who was sold for the highest amount - ₹23.75 crore - at the IPL auction. He was bought by KKR. His performance dips in this season of the IPL. In the seven matches he played for KKR, he scored only 142 runs at an average of 20.29.
Sunrisers Hyderabad bought Aniket Verma from Bhopal for ₹30 lakh. Aniket, who made his IPL debut this season, played for SRH. The right-handed allrounder made 236 runs in the 14 matches he played.
Others included Avesh Khan (Indore), Kuldeep Sen (Rewa), Arshad Khan (Seoni), Madhav Tiwari (Indore), Kumar Kartikeya Singh (Shahdol) and Shivam Shukla (Panna). Avesh, who was picked by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for ₹9.75 crore, played 13 matches for his team, scoring 487 runs and taking 13 wickets.
Kuldeep playing for PBKS is a bowler. Sold for ₹80 lakh, he played 12 matches, scalping 14 wickets and scoring zero runs. Arshad, bought by GT for ₹1.30 crore, played 19 matches, scoring 124 runs and taking 12 wickets.
Madhav played just one match for DC, scoring three runs. His sale price was ₹40 lakh. A bowler, Kumar Kartikeya played 16 matches for RR scoring 12 runs and taking an equal number of wickets. He was bought for ₹30 lakh. Shivam, a leg-spinner joined the KKR squad for IPL as a replacement for Rovman Powell. He was signed for ₹30 lakh. He did not get the opportunity to play a single match in the IPL.
Kulwant Khejrolia who plays for Madhya Pradesh was also a part of the IPL 2025. A bowler, Kulwant played three matches for GT franchise. Bought for ₹30 lakh, he took 6 wickets.
