Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A group of goons brutally attacked a police head constable and a school van driver in broad daylight in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior on Saturday.
The incident took place in the Ramdas Ghat area under Inderganj Police Station. The attackers beat the victims with sticks and iron rods. The entire incident was caught on CCTV and also recorded by a bystander on a mobile phone.
According to reports, Head Constable Arvind Rajawat, who is posted at the PTS Police Training School in Tighra and resides in the Bahodapur Police Line, was returning home after dropping his children at school.
On the way, he noticed some youths arguing with a school van driver near Ramdas Ghat. When he tried to intervene and calm the situation, the attackers became aggressive.
Constable’s ear torn; driver injured
One of the youths left the spot and soon returned with 4-5 others, all armed with sticks and iron rods. They then chased and attacked both the head constable and the van driver on the road. The van driver suffered serious injuries, while the head constable received deep wounds on his head and a torn ear.
After attacking the victims, the goons fled the scene. A CCTV camera nearby captured the incident, and a young man on a bike also recorded it on his phone. He later informed the police.
Police quickly reached the scene and admitted both injured victims to a private hospital for treatment. Based on the CCTV footage and the victims’ statements, the police identified the attackers. 3 of them have been taken into custody, while others are still on the run.
CSP Robin Jain confirmed the incident and stated that a case has been registered. The police are continuing their investigation and searching for the remaining accused.
