Bhopal (Madhya Pardesh): In preparation for the high-profile Global Investors Summit (GIS), which will see attendance of industrialists and political figures, the police have planned an extensive security strategy, utilising state-of-the-art technology.

A total of 15 modern drones equipped with high-resolution cameras will be deployed for the first time in a security arrangement for a major event. These drones will provide an aerial view and ensure real-time surveillance of the event premises. Around 3,000 police personnel will be stationed to maintain order during the summit, with additional support from nearby districts.

The security plan includes a specialised drone team responsible for managing the aerial surveillance operations. In addition to general security, VIP guests with varying security needs, including those with SPG and Z-plus cover, will receive a tailored security arrangement. To ensure smooth logistics, the police have coordinated traffic routes for GIS attendees.

Eight distinct traffic routes will be allocated for different categories of guests. The security force will also monitor parking areas and all venues used by GIS attendees. Surveillance will be heightened at under-construction sites and sensitive locations.

To further enhance security, CCTVs will be installed throughout the area, and the police have activated their intelligence units to monitor hotels, restaurants, and other public spaces. Hand-held metal detectors and Digital Multi-Function Detectors (DMFD) will be used to screen individuals entering the event, ensuring a comprehensive approach to safeguarding the summit.

Cutting-edge tech: Police chief

Commissioner of Police Harinarayanchari Mishra told Free Press that comprehensive and foolproof security arrangements are being put in place for the GIS. He said that no effort would be spared in ensuring safety of all attendees, with police force employing cutting-edge technology and deploying over 3,000 personnel for round-the-clock security.

Mishra said that VIP protection and thorough checks will be carried out at all venues, with advanced tools such as Digital Multi-Function Detectors (DMFD) and hand-held metal detectors being used for screenings.
