FIR Against 3 Farmers For Burning Stubble, 770 Farmers Fined ₹16.17l For Burning Crop Residue So Far

The environment department will realise environmental compensation amount on stubble farming

Indore(Madhya Pradesh): On the directive of collector Asheesh Singh, strict action is being taken against those who burn crop residue (stubble) in the district. On Wednesday, FIR was registered against three farmers in Hatod, Juni Indore and Bicholi Hapsi areas and fines worth Rs 3.09 lakh imposed on 102 farmers. Under a campaign, fines worth Rs 16.17 lakh have been imposed on 770 farmers so far for burning stubble.

The action will continue in the coming days as well.

At the Gram Panchayat headquarters in the district, field officers and Patwaris of the revenue department are coordinating with the panchayat secretaries and the farmers are being made aware of the losses caused by burning stubble.

If the farmer burns stubble, as per the notification of the state government, the environment department will realise environmental compensation amount (penalty). Any person, body or farmer who has land up to 2 acres will have to pay a penalty of Rs 2500 per incident as environmental damage for burning stubble. If someone has land from 2 to 5 acres, then he will have to pay a fine of Rs. 5,000 per incident and if someone has land more than 5 acres, then he will have to pay a fine of Rs. 15,000 per incident for environmental damage on burning stubble.
