Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Coolers have been installed to help the horses of Mounted Police beat the soaring temperature and keep them in good health. Moreover, their drill time has also been changed to avoid taking them out in scorching sun.

Being an important part of Madhya Pradesh police, all steps are being taken to keep the horses fit and healthy in the summer, police officials said.

According to Mounted Police officials, 10 jumbo coolers have been installed at the stable of Reserve Police Lines to protect horses from the soaring heat. It is ensured that coolers function well and their tanks are full of water to provide cool and fresh breeze to horses.

The stable of police lines has 19 horses, all of which are well-trained and in good health. Serving the police force for last nine years, Pegasus (named after a one-winged horse in Greek mythology) is the smartest one that MP police have in their stable. It showed talent in 12 parades successfully.

Rider of Mounted Police Dipesh Singh said drill timings had been changed to little earlier in the morning to avoid taking horses out in the sun. However, no changes have been made in their summer diet.

Sheeba, Kanchan, Rakhi, Bijli, Aru, Faj, Vikral and Shakti among other horses and mares are also part of the Mounted Police of Bhopal. Besides regular drills and exercises, they are given multivitamins and jaggery especially in winter to keep them in good health.
