Bhopal's MANIT Betters Infra, Grooms Students In 12 Adopted Villages

Interventions in different field under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan yield good results

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) has adopted twelve villages under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan to address basic issues of development like education, women empowerment, girl child development, agriculture, technical intervention, sanitation and waste management.

The villages include Hirapur, Ralawati, Ulzhawan, Kharpa, Kharpi, Semri, Jhagariya Khurd, Bagoniya, Kalyanpur, Borda, Sahpur and Sarvar in Bhopal and Sehore districts.

Abhiyan, a flagship programme of the government of India, aims to connect the Higher education institutions with at least five villages to address development challenges. The MANIT Bhopal is one of the Regional Coordinator (RCI) of the Abhiyan in the country.

The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan MANIT student’s cell carried out a number of activities in government middle school of Kharpa village. The UBA students teach them simple arithmetic, geographical maps, drawing competition, opportunities in jobs after the completion of higher education courses, stationary distributed among the school students.

The UBA student’s cell also interacts with the headmaster and teachers of the government middle school to discuss various issues related to their students and how they can resolve them for their betterment.

Besides, the students have provided benches and fans to the school at Ralawati village in Sehore district and got the building whitewashed. They also taught basic arithmetic to the students, leading to the selection of some of the students in Navodaya Schools.

The regional coordinator of UBA cell MANIT, Pushpender Yadav has told the Free Press that our priority is to provide maximum support and help to government school students so that they can continue their study. In coming months, UBA MANIT student’s cell will perform more activities in adopted villages, he said.
