Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A divorced woman has accused her Muslim live-in partner of rape after he refused to marry her in Bhopal. Misrod police have registered an FIR against the accused on the woman's complaint.

The accused has been identified as Ashu Khan (40).

The right-wing organisations have alleged it to be a case of 'Love Jihad' and demanded strict action against the accused.

According to reports, the 35-year-old victim hails from Uttar Pradesh. She was divorced by her husband six years ago and since then she was living with her son and daughter.

Victim was in a live-in relationship with the accused for 1 year

Around a year ago, the woman came in contact with Ashu Khan, who sells leather bags in Bhopal. The duo had an affair and began a live-in-relationship during which he raped the victim multiple times on pretext of marrying her soon. However, the accused refused marriage when she recently started pressuring him.

Activists of a right wing organisation staged a protest at Misrod police station demanding action against the accused while terming the case as ‘love jihad’. Police officials said that a case under rape and freedom to religious freedom act has been registered on the complaint of the woman.
