I-T nets Rs 50 cr from builder, jeweller gives up Rs 3.25cr
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): An Income Tax (I-T) department survey has blown the lid off massive tax evasion, exposing Rs 50 crore in unaccounted income from Golden City Builder Manish, while Alankar Jewellers surrendered Rs 3.25 crore. The I-T sleuths launched the operation on March 20, targeting the builder and the jewellery shop.
During the survey at Golden City Builder Manish, officials stumbled upon heaps of incriminating documents. One of the biggest revelations was that the builder had falsely claimed a fully operational building as “under construction” to dodge tax liabilities.
Several other clever tricks were allegedly used to evade taxes. At Alankar Jewellers, the survey revealed glaring discrepancies between stock and book records, raising serious concern about financial malpractice. I-T officials suspect further irregularities, and more details of the probe are expected to surface by Thursday.
Woman Loses ₹16L On Pretext Of Daughter’s MBBS Seat In AIIMS
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A woman was duped of Rs 16 lakh on pretext of getting her daughter MBBS seat in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhopal. On the complaint of Reena Louis, the crime branch has registered a case against her relative and two of his aides, who run a consultancy firm, said officials.
The trio had assured Reena to get her daughter’s admission in MBBS through institutional quota, said the cops, adding that further investigations are underway. Reena told police that her daughter Riya Rose Louis has appeared in National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) 2023-24.
Their relative Chadi Thomas of New Delhi approached them with a promise to get Riya MBBS seat with the help of his aides Satyen and Gyanesh Baweja, who ran a consultancy firm.
They fixed a deal of Rs 50 lakh for the admission and on their insistence, Reena gave them Rs 16 lakh in three instalments-from April to June last year. But to her shock, Riya’s name was missing from the list of selected candidates. When she confronted the trio and demanded a refund of the amount, they handed her a fake cheque. The women then approached the crime branch and lodged a complaint.
