Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): In a bid to set a public example, the traffic police launched a special compliance campaign here starting from within their own ranks. The initiative began on Monday morning with a surprise inspection at the Bhopal Traffic Police Station near the Lal Parade Ground.

During the inspection, 11 police personnel were issued challans eight for riding two-wheelers without helmets and three for driving four-wheelers without wearing seatbelts.

The drive was led by ACP (Zone-1, Traffic) Ajay Vajpayee and supervised by SHO Kanhaiya Lal Meena, who personally monitored the violations and issued fines.

Operating under the motto "Make a self change first, and then correct others," the campaign aims to ensure police personnel strictly follow traffic rules themselves.

Additional DCP (Traffic) Basant Kaul said the move is intended to enhance credibility and foster a culture of discipline within the force.

Officials emphasized that such checks will now be a routine part of operations. All traffic staff have been instructed to comply strictly with traffic rules, including wearing helmets and seatbelts while on duty or commuting.

A strong step toward promoting road safety

Ajay Vajpayee, ACP (Zone-1, Traffic) said,"The initiative marks a strong step toward promoting road safety through accountability and aims to inspire the public to follow suit. While we regularly fine the public for violations, it's unacceptable when our own officers break the rules. This sends the wrong message.”
