Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped and impregnated by a neighbour in slum area under Bhopal's Chunabhatti police station limits. The crime was uncovered 3 months later when the doctors confirmed victim's pregnancy.
Police have registered an FIR and are carrying out raids at suspected locations to arrest the accused who is on the run at present.
Victim is in class 7
As per reports, the victim is a student of class 7. Her father is a labourer whereas, her mother works as domestic help in nearby localities. The family lives in a slum.
It is alleged that on October 24, 2024 the girl was alone at home when the accused Pankaj barged inside and raped her. He also issued death threats to the victim and told her to keep silence about the incident.
On Saturday night (January 25, 2025), the victim's kin took her to the hospital after she complained of pain in her stomach. Here, the doctors confirmed about her pregnancy and informed police regarding the matter.
As per victim's mother, accused Pankaj is a neighbour who took advantage of the loneliness of her daughter.
Police investigations revealed that the accused Pankaj is married and is father to a child. He works as a cleaner in a private hospital but he and his family left their house a month ago and did not return yet.
Chunabhatti police station in-charge TI Bhupendra Kaul Sandhu informed that the accused hails from Dewas and a police team has been sent to the district to trace him.
Also, the girl and her parents are demanding abortion. Further action regarding the matter will be taken after permission of the court.
