Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Three accused, Saurabh Sharma, Chetan Singh Gaur, and Sharad Jaiswal, arrested under the Prevention of Corruption Act, have been sent to judicial remand until February 17, as per the Court’s order on Tuesday. Their police remand ended on Tuesday.

Officials from the ED and IT departments were present in the Court during the hearing.

The Lokayukta police arrested the three on January 28 under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Earlier, on December 19, the Lokayukta conducted raids at two premises belonging to Saurabh Sharma. During the raid, police found unaccounted cash and jewelry worth Rs 7.89 crore. Later that evening, the Income Tax Department seized a car, in which 52 kilograms of gold bars and Rs 10 crore in cash were discovered.

After spending seven days in police remand, they were presented in Court. Before being brought to Court, they were taken to a hospital for a medical checkup.

The Lokayukta police did not request an extension of the remand and asked the Court to send the accused to judicial remand. The Court then ordered that the three be sent to Bhopal Central Jail until February 17.
