Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The landlord of a shop and a godown accepted the challan of Bhopal Municipal Corporation on Friday and assured the Corporation team of getting the two premises vacated from his tenant.

The dispute between a tenant Vishnu Tripathi, a pet food trader (Indira Market-Bittan Market) and BMC began a month ago when the latter slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 for dumping garbage, which he paid. However, he kept reminding BMC to lift the garbage timely and asked timing for door-to-door collection of garbage.

This led to confrontation between Assistant Health Officer (AHO) Zone-8 and Tripathi. The latter even complained to municipal commissioner against AHO charging him with extorting money on the pretext of imposing fine and issuing threats to seal the shop and godown.

When contacted, trader Vishnu Tripathi said, “They (BMC) could not tell me the timing of garbage collection. They told me that van comes to lift the garbage at 4 am in commercial areas.

It was surprising for me as how BMC can send a garbage collection van so early in morning in a commercial area. When I called AHO and sanitary inspector, they threatened to seal shops and godown.”

When contacted, assistant health officer Ravindra Yadav (zone-8) said, “Local traders are upset with his behaviour and godown of pet food due to foul smell. Local traders complained to municipal commissioner. Today (Friday), I came to seal the godown. Tripathi’s landlord took the challan and assured us that it will be vacated.”
