Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The government is mulling over new proposals for shifting the collectorate office. The issue came up following opposition by the public representatives to shift the collectorate to the Professor Colony.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav told the officials on Tuesday to take the public representatives into confidence before making any decision on shifting the collectorate.

According to sources, the officials of the Urban Development Department held an initial meeting with the public representatives to deal with the matter.

The department is working on two proposals. First, it may construct a new building at the present collectorate office. It may also chart out a plan for re-densification of the Professor’s Colony.

The residential and commercial planning should be done on the basis of the plan. The money received from the re-densification of the Professor Colony will be used to construct a new building at the collectorate.

According to the second proposal, the collectorate should be shifted to the Professor’s Colony. All other offices of the police department should be in Old Bhopal. The offices of the police department may also be shifted to the empty places at the collectorate.

The officials are also mulling over some other proposals so that they may take the public representatives into confidence. The officials of the Housing Board have been told to make some separate plans.

Once the basic work is over, there will be a final discussion between the public representatives and the officials. The proposal will be put up before the chief minister. Bhopal MP Alok Sharma is opposed to shifting the collectorate.

Minister Vishvas Sarang and legislator Rameshwar Sharma also supported the MP. At a recent meeting, Yadav told the officers to take the public representatives into confidence before making any decision on shifting the collectorate.
