Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The police are gearing up to allay fears of vagabond criminal gangs on the prowl in the localities on the outskirts of the city.
On the instructions of Police Commissioner Harinarayanchari Mishra, police personnel will hold meetings with residents of newly constructed residential areas in the outer areas and will also review their safety systems.
This would avert crime and also ensure the safety of residents, police officials said. Just a week ago, miscreants targeted a home and a commercial establishment in the Arera Colony area.
Based on CCTV footage and the appearance of miscreants, police suspected that the culprits belonged to a vagabond criminal gang or the notorious ‘Pardi Gang’.
However, despite a search at settlements of vagabond communities in the outskirts of the city, the miscreants could not be traced.
Police officials said that cops at Katara Hills, Kolar, Bairagarh, Misrod, Ayodhya Nagar, and Ratibadh, etc, have been asked to conduct meetings with residents of newly constructed colonies on the outskirts.
They will review the security arrangements at these colonies and will encourage the installation of CCTV cameras at strategic points.
Moreover, police will take information regarding the watchmen and security guards at these colonies. They will be asked to take identification documents of vendors and others who visit the residential areas.
Police Commissioner Mishra said, besides these steps, police patrolling in new colonies andresidential areas on the outskirts will be increased. Residents will also be asked to report anysuspicious persons or activities, he added.
