Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A group of people organised a protest against Waqf Amendment Act outside Moti Masjid after the Friday prayers under the banner of Madhya Pradesh Muslim Tyohar Committee.

The call for protest was made on social media platforms but no permission was given for it by the administration.

However, heavy police force along with the RAF was deployed outside Iqbal Maidan and adjacent areas in view of the protest. According to reports, a large number of people assembled near Iqbal Maidan after the Friday prayers. Most of them returned after they learnt that the administration has not given permission for the protest.

However, around 50 members of the committee staged a protest on the road adjacent to Moti Masjid with banners and placards against the Waqf Amendment Act. They claimed that authorities gave them permission for the protest but cancelled it later. ACP Hanumanganj Rakesh Baghel said force was deployed near Iqbal Maidan after receiving inputs of protest against the Waqf Amendment Act. However, no one turned up at Iqbal Maidan as protests were restricted on the ground.
