Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 70-year-old man shot at his daughter-in-law following a tiff over drawing water from his borewell under Parwalia Sadak police station limits on Wednesday afternoon.
The woman (32) received bullet injuries in her arm and was rushed to the hospital by her husband. An FIR has been registered against the man and he has been arrested with the licensed gun used in the crime, police said.
According to reports, the accused identified as Ishwar Singh Lawana (70) and his son Naresh are farmers. Ishwar Singh lives on the upper floor of the same house in Gram Parwalia.
The father and son are not on good terms. Preliminary investigations revealed that Ishwar Singh wanted Naresh and his wife Sangeeta to leave his house and used to object whenever the couple drew water from the borewell located in the backyard.
At about 3.30 pm on Wednesday, Naresh went in the backyard of the house to switch on the motor pump when Ishwar Singh raised objection.
Sangeeta also confronted her father-in-law. After an altercation over the issue, Ishwar Singh took out his licensed gun and pointed it towards Naresh. In a fit of rage, Ishwar Singh fired a shot at his son. However, Sangeeta came in between and was hit in her left arm. Naresh called police and admitted his wife to the hospital where her condition is reported to be stable.
Parwalia Sadak police station in-charge Rohit Nagar said the accused had been caught with the firearm and a case for attempt to murder and other relevant sections of BNS had been registered against him.
