Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Police have also arrested the maternal uncle of the 15-year-old girl who was abducted and ‘sold’ to a man in Ashok Nagar district.
The victim’s uncle and an auto driver were among the six accused arrested by police in connection with the abduction and exploitation of the victim who was rescued by Ashoka Garden police on January 26.
Four of the accused were taken on police remand and were being questioned further to unearth the human trafficking racket which may be spread to different parts of the state, police officials said.
According to reports, the case of abduction was registered by victim’s uncle when she went missing in 2021.
However, police made the uncle an accused in the case when the rescued victim in her statement said that she left home after her uncle assaulted her sexually.
The victim in her statement further said that she met auto driver Salman after she left home in 2022.
Salman raped her in a hotel on pretext of helping her and then handed her over to Ashutosh Vajpai and Mahak Yadav who sold her to a man in Ashok Nagar through one Shobharam. Police officials further said that Vajpai, his wife Mahak and other accused were being questioned further in the case. Investigations revealed that Vajpai and Mahak have cases of Immoral Traffic (prevention act) registered against them along with a case of murder in Shahpura area. Some more names involved in the racket may surface after questioning and scanning of call records of the accused, police officials added.
