Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A fire broke out at the Nomadic Tribes Department in Vindhyachal Bhawan during renovation work on Thursday afternoon.
Fire tenders managed to douse the flames before they could spread and cause damage. Police stated that the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

According to reports, employees of the department, situated on the second floor of the building, raised an alarm after spotting smoke rising from a heap of cartons. Fire soon engulfed the cartons and furniture stored there.
The building staff immediately alerted the fire department and tried to contain the blaze using fire extinguishers. Three fire tenders reached the spot and the fire-fighters successfully brought the fire under control. It is suspected that fire erupted due to welding iron work being carried out during the renovation.
However, a burning cigarette or bidi may also have led to fire in the heap of cartons.
In-charge at Arera Hills police station Manoj Patwa said the fire was doused before it could spread and cause damage. Some plastic furniture and cartons were gutted in the fire, he added. Notably, a fire had broken out on the same floor of building a few years ago
Possible causes of the blaze
1-Welding work during renovation might have triggered the fire
2- A burning cigarette or bidi left unattended may have ignited the heap of cartons.
