Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): In a move aimed at increasing public confidence and potentially deterring crimes, police commissioner Harinarayanchari Mishra has issued instructions to conduct the counting at police stations at 4.30 PM.

This would enhance the visibility of cops on city roads during peak hours. Police personnel along with additional DCPs and ACPs will be present at their duty points by 5 PM from Friday.

It is worth mentioning that counting at police stations was held at 6 PM. After completion of formalities, policemen started patrolling by 7 PM every day. Absence of cops during the peak hours starting at 5 PM resulted in traffic snarls and even incidents of road rage.

After the instructions of the police commissioner, the police will now be present on the roads at 5 PM and ensure smooth traffic flow. The police commissioner said the presence of policemen earlier in the evening would also help control crimes.

Precautionary action would be taken against miscreants and anti-social elements found active after dark, he added.

He also instructed his subordinates to strengthen the beat policing under their jurisdictions. Beat in charges should have full information of their areas and should take immediate action in case of any complaint, he said.

Action would be taken against beat in charges and TIs if they were found neglecting their work, he said, adding that police officials should hold ‘chaupals’ among people for better disposal of their complaints.
