Bhopal: Bhopal Municipal Corporation budget on March 6, no new taxes likely

BHOPAL: Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) will present its budget for the year 2019-20 on March 6. The civic body is in no mood to levy any new tax on the residents in the busget which will be of around Rs 1800 crore, said sources. Mayor Bhopal Alok Sharma is likely to announce the regularisation of the around 4000 workers engaged for 25-day contractual work. He may also announce development of crematoriums in the city for cows.

The Mayor had already announced setting up of crematorium for cows and the allocation of fund for it may be announced in the budget. The smart fire station may also figure in the budget. Mayor Alok Sharma when contacted said the regularisation of the workers is in our mind. The budget will be prepared keeping the public welfare in mind, said Sharma adding that schemes for the benefit of the residents will be announced.

City of lakes to be developed into green city
The authority, which has constructed and unsold properties worth Rs 237 crore, also made its clear intension for transforming the state capital into green city. BDA has chalked out plan to plan to develop parks and promote plantation and design eco-friendly building designs.
