Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Miscreants assaulted and injured an aged man and his sons when they objected to stealing sound system from their auto-rickshaw at Nai Basti under Gandhi Nagar police station on Saturday night.
One of them received serious injuries in his hands when attacked with a sword. The family claimed that cops did not take action against the accused when they approached them for help.
According to reports, brothers Narendra and Surendra Sharma are auto-rickshaw drivers. On Saturday afternoon, sound system of Surendra’s auto-rickshaw was stolen allegedly by one Ritik Maratha and Kallu Banjara of the same locality. Surendra claimed that they called police and went to police station but no action was taken.
However, the persons accused of theft and their aides attacked Narendra, Surendra and two others when they returned from police station. Narendra alleged that Surendra had a fracture in his leg. A young Aavinash received a cut in his fingers when he tried to rescue the victims. Narendra said they again went to the police station after the assault but no FIR was registered on their complaint.
Meanwhile, Gandhi Nagar police station house officer Suresh Kumar said members of both groups were habitual offenders and frequently created trouble. Narendra had past criminal record and it came to fore that both groups clashed with each other and agreed to a compromise, he added.
