Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A woman was allegedly held hostage and raped by a man under Berasia police station limits. A case has been registered against the man and efforts are underway to trace and arrest him, police said.

Family lodged a missing complaint after the woman disappeared

According to reports, local resident and 28-year-old woman went missing on May 25. Her parents lodged a missing complaint and launched a search for her. The woman returned after three days and claimed that she had gone with Prashant Malviya at her own will and married him.

Accused abducted the victim and kept her hostage

Berasia police station in charge Virendra Kumar Sen said the woman approached police on Monday and alleged that she was abducted by Prashant.

Accused threatened her to keep silence

The accused held her hostage in a room for three days and raped her. The victim claimed that she did not report the incident as Prashant has threatened her to keep silence. Based on her statement, a case has been registered, Sen added.
