Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar stated that if Arvind Kejriwal had not made the remark accusing Haryana of poisoning Yamuna’s water, AAP could have won 5 to 7 more seats in the Delhi Assembly elections. He said that many voters with roots in Haryana were deeply hurt by Kejriwal’s statement. He accused Kejriwal of habitually shifting blame when he fails to deliver. “He could not clean the Yamuna and instead tried to pass the buck to Haryana,” Khattar said.

He made these remarks while addressing the media at a press conference held at Kushabhau Thakre International Conference Hall in Bhopal on Sunday. The conference was organised to brief the media on key provisions of the Union Budget. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, BJP State President VD Sharma, and other leaders were also present at the event.

Speaking on the issue of deportation from the USA, Khattar noted that India had also deported illegal immigrants from Assam. He acknowledged that illegal immigration is a serious issue and that those who enter another country unlawfully are deported. However, he expressed concerns about theAA manner in which the USA had recently deported Indian nationals.

Khattar also highlighted key aspects of the recently presented Union Budget, describing it as a “visionary budget” designed to achieve the Modi government’s goal of a developed India by 2047. He mentioned new schemes tailored to the country’s needs, including the construction of three crore new houses for the underprivileged. He also noted that the income tax exemption up to ₹12 lakh had provided significant relief to the middle class.

New category in cleanliness rankings

Khattar acknowledged concerns from various states regarding the Swachh Survekshan rankings, where Indore has consistently been ranked number one for several years. To address this, he announced the introduction of a new category for cities that have regularly featured in the rankings. These cities will compete separately, allowing other cities a fairer chance in the regular category.
