Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A factory may come up in Raisen district adjacent to the state capital to manufacture tanks for the army and coaches for the railway. Indian public sector, Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), is all set to make investments in the state.
According to sources, BEML has also identified the land where it plans to set up the proposed factory near Obaidullaganj in Raisen district. The BEML is getting ready to install equipment on the land for manufacturing railway coaches and army tanks.
The officials of BEML have already identified the land. The officials of the industries department of the state government held a meeting with their counterparts from BEML. BEML comes under the Central Government’s Mini Ratna category-one. The Government of India holds 54% of shares of the company. BEML manufactures defence, transport, railway and digging equipment, and its office is in Bengaluru.

It is the second largest earth-moving company in Asia. According to sources, the factory to be set up in Obaidullaganj may manufacture the equipment required for defence and railway. BEML may invest nearly Rs 2,000 crore in the factory that may appoint locals. According to the officials of the Industries Department, they held a discussion with their counterparts from BEML.
The officials of the company also identified a plot of land for the factory. After a discussion over a few issues, the land will be handed over to the company.
Bullet train manufactory work also given to BEML Bharat Earth Movers is also making indigenous bullet trains. Indian Railways Chennai production unit has done the work.
