Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): A 55-year-old farmer lost his life after being struck by lightning in Madhya Pradesh's Chhatarpur on Wednesday.
The incident occurred in Harpalpur town of Chhatarpur district on Wednesday around 3 PM.
According to information, people working nearby saw the farmer collapse after the lightning strike and rushed to help.
He was taken to the Primary Health Centre on a tractor, but there was no doctor available.
After a long wait, the medical staff declared him dead. This led to anger among locals, and a crowd gathered at the hospital.
What happened?
Rajendra Singh, a resident of Ward 12 near the police lines, had gone to his field with goats for sowing work. Around 2:30 PM, the weather suddenly changed—clouds thundered, and it started drizzling. To avoid getting wet, he sat at the door of a small shed in the field. At that moment, a strong lightning bolt struck nearby, leaving him seriously injured.

People nearby heard the loud noise and rushed to the spot. With help from others, he was brought to the health centre but was declared dead by the staff.
Rajendra Singh was the main breadwinner of his family through farming. His sudden death has left the family in deep sorrow. The local police and revenue team reached the spot and have begun an investigation.
