Ashoknagar (Madhya Pradesh): Two different incidents were reported within 24 hours in Ashok Nagar. A 26-year-old youth and a two-and-a-half-year-old child lost their lives after being swept away in strong drain currents on Friday.
The first incident took place in Moodra village under Piprai police station, 26-year-old deceased is identified as Vinod Balua. The youth used to work for someone on the other side of the drain.
Vinod left his house for work and was swept away in the strong current of water while crossing the drain. When he did not return home, the family members searched for him nearby. Upon not finding him, they informed the police.
Ashoknagar's SDRF team reached the spot. They started searching from the same place from where Vinod used to cross the drain. During the search, Vinod's body was found in the bushes at a short distance. The police have sent the body to Piprai Government Hospital for postmortem.
Two-and-a-half-year-old swept away
In another incident, a two and a half year old child was swept away in a drain while playing in Sonakhedi village of Mungawali police station area of Ashoknagar. In the morning, the SDRF team recovered the body the child during the search.
The body of the child was found about a kilometer ahead from where he was swept away in the drain. The child, identified as Kalu Adivasi, son of Lali Adivasi, had recently arrived from Agra, Uttar Pradesh, to his maternal home in Sonakhedi.
He was playing near the drain with other children, while playing, the child was swept away in the water.
