Maruti Suzuki marked its 2 millionth vehicle milestone with the rollout of the Ertiga from its advanced manufacturing facility in Manesar, Haryana. Out of the total production, nearly 60% of the vehicles were manufactured in Haryana, while the remaining 40% came from the Gujarat plant. The top five models contributing to this achievement in 2024 were the Baleno, Fronx, Ertiga, WagonR, and Brezza, showcasing the brand’s strong demand across segments.

On achieving this significant milestone, Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “The 2 million production milestone is a testament to India’s manufacturing potential and our dedication to the ‘Make in India’ initiative. This achievement highlights our commitment, along with our supplier and dealer partners, to fostering economic growth, supporting nation-building, and making India’s automobile industry self-reliant and globally competitive. We extend our sincere gratitude to our customers, employees, and value chain partners for their unwavering support and for being an integral part of this historic journey.”

Maruti Suzuki currently operates three manufacturing plants—two in Haryana (Gurgaon and Manesar) and one in Gujarat (Hansalpur)—with a combined annual production capacity of 2.35 million units. To meet the rising demand for vehicles in India and global markets, the company is expanding its production capabilities to 4 million units annually. A key part of this expansion is the new greenfield facility in Kharkhoda, Haryana, where construction is progressing as planned. The first plant at this site, with an annual capacity of 2.5 lakh units, is expected to be operational by 2025. Once fully completed, the Kharkhoda facility will have a total production capacity of 1 million units per year. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki is planning another greenfield facility with a similar capacity of 1 million units and is currently identifying a suitable location for the project.
