Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has made significant strides in sustainable logistics by transporting 26% of its domestic wholesale volumes through rail freight in 2024, totaling 1,56,724 units. This strategic shift helped the company reduce 18,352 tons of CO2 emissions over the year. Hyundai also prioritized rail freight for 100% of its vehicle dispatches to the North-East, reinforcing its commitment to eco-friendly practices while optimizing its logistics operations.

Hyundai Motor India has strengthened its focus on sustainable logistics, achieving 100% rail freight dispatches to the North-East region in 2024. Over the past four years, the company has transported a cumulative 5,37,499 units via rail, effectively reducing CO2 emissions by 63,452 tons. This milestone highlights Hyundai's commitment to eco-friendly transportation and reducing its carbon footprint across India.

Commenting on the announcement, Tarun Garg, Whole-time Director and Chief Operating Officer – Hyundai Motor India Limited, stated, “At HMIL, we remain unwavering in our efforts to integrate sustainability across all aspects of our operations, including manufacturing, dispatches, sales, and after-sales support. By leveraging the extensive rail network of Indian Railways to deliver Hyundai vehicles from our plant in Sriperumbudur, Chennai, to various locations across India, we successfully prevented 18,352 tons of CO2 emissions in CY 2024 while dispatching 1,56,724 units. With the Government of India continuously enhancing rail infrastructure through dedicated freight corridors and advanced, energy-efficient rolling stock for faster goods movement, HMIL is steadfast in its commitment to utilizing rail freight to optimize logistics operations and achieve long-term emission reductions.”
