Alphonso has a bright golden-yellow skin with a red blush on the top. Kesar is more saffron-colored (hence the name), with a uniform orange-yellow tone

Alphonso has a rich, creamy flavor with a hint of citrus and intense aroma. Kesar is slightly tangy, intensely sweet, and very aromatic-often called the "Queen of Mangoes

Alphonso is smooth, non-fibrous, and silky in texture, making it perfect for desserts. Kesar is also soft but slightly grainier in texture, though still low in fiber

Alphonso is available from late March to June and is more delicate with a shorter shelf life. Kesar ripens a bit later (May to July) and is slightly more robust for transport and storage

There is not much difference in the nutritional value of these 2 mangoes

Alphonso is considered premium and widely used in exports, high-end desserts, and purees. Kesar is slightly more affordable and commonly used for aamras, milkshakes, and sweets
