Lahore: A video of Lahore's Allama Iqbal International Airport, engulfed with black smoke after a fire broke out is being widely shared on social media. The reason for the fire incident occurred on 9 May 2024, was due to a short circuit in the ceiling of the immigration counter.

Grok Also Fact Checks

Elon Musk's AI chatbot Grok was also asked by netizens regarding the viral video. Responding to which Grok said, "The truth about the reported fire at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport on April 25–26, 2025, is uncertain."

Responding to the claims by netizens Grok said, "Some X posts and a news article claim a fire broke out, possibly due to a Pakistan Army plane’s tire catching fire, leading to flight cancellations. However, there’s no official confirmation from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority or the airport, and major news outlets haven’t reported it. Conflicting claims about the cause, like a missile explosion or cyberattack, add to the skepticism. A similar fire happened in May 2024, so this could be old footage being misused. For now, treat the claims cautiously. Check the PCAA website or contact airlines directly for accurate flight updates."
