US: A 33-year-old man was fatally stabbed early Saturday morning (local time) in Harlem, outside a bodega, located in the neighbourhood of New York city.
According to reports quoting the NYPD, officers responded to a report of an assault around 5:30 am near 2640 8th Avenue. The victim, who had sustained multiple stab wounds to his back, was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. His identity has not yet been released, pending notification of his family.
CCTV Footage Captures Fatal Stabbing Attack
Surveillance footage obtained by Fox5 New York News from the 8th Ave Food Convenience store at the corner of West 142nd Street captured the fatal altercation. The video shows two men talking outside the bodega around 5 am (local time). A third man soon joins the conversation, followed closely by a fourth. Tensions escalate quickly, and within seconds, the confrontation turns violent.
Fists begin to fly, and one man is knocked to the ground. He manages to get up as the fight spills onto 8th Avenue. It then becomes a two-on-one assault, with the victim being pinned to the pavement. Suddenly, one of the assailants pulls out a knife and repeatedly stabs the victim nearly six times in the back before fleeing the scene. The attacker remains at large, and police have launched a manhunt.
The violent episode deeply unsettled employees at the convenience store and reignited urgent calls for enhanced safety measures at city bodegas. In recent years, bodega workers have faced a disturbing rise in robberies and assaults, leading authorities and advocacy groups to explore new strategies for protection.
