'Standard Not Met': Astronomer CEO Andy Bryon Resigns After Viral Kiss Cam Controversy

Boston: Andy Bryon, the now-former CEO of data and AI firm Astronomer, has stepped down after a viral video showing him sharing an intimate moment with the company’s Chief People Officer, Kristin Cabot, at a Coldplay concert sparked public outrage and social media frenzy.

The clip led to widespread criticism, memes, and questions over his professional conduct.

Astronomer Acknowledges Leadership Failure

In a statement, Astronomer confirmed Bryon's resignation, stating that its leadership had failed to meet the company’s expected standards. “Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met. Andy Bryon has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted," the company said.

While the leadership shift made headlines, the company sought to reassure clients and stakeholders. “We’re continuing to do what we do best: helping our customers with their toughest data and AI problems,” the statement read.

Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy will serve as interim CEO while the board searches for a permanent replacement.

The Concert Clip That Sparked a Storm

The controversy erupted after Bryon and Cabot were caught on the “kiss cam” at a Coldplay concert in Boston on July 16. The pair were seen getting close before quickly attempting to hide once they realised they were on the big screen.

Chris Martin, the band’s lead singer, made a tongue-in-cheek comment, “Oh, what? Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
