'Some Things I Say Will Be Incorrect': Elon Musk After Reporter Confronts Billionaire With His 'US Sending $50M Condoms To Gaza' Claim
Musk promptly replied to the reporter saying, "Well, first of all, some of the things that I say will be incorrect and should be corrected. So nobody's going to bat 1,000. We will make mistakes, but we'll act quickly to correct any mistakes."
Billionaire Elon Musk and President Donald Trump engaged with reporters and answered a flurry of questions during their first joint press briefing in the Oval Office on Tuesday.
During the press conference, Musk, who heads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in the Trump administration, spoke on issues ranging from restoring democracy to the security fraud.
Musk was also asked a question about his claim that the US-funded condoms in Gaza. A reporter asked him about his claim made on X—a social media platform owned by Musk—stating the US had sent $50 million worth of condoms to Gaza under President Joe Biden's administration.
"Mr. Musk, you said on X that $50 million of condoms were sent to Gaza. But after fact-checking this, apparently, it was Gaza in Mozambique and the program was to protect them against HIV. So can you correct this statement? It wasn't sent to Hamas, actually. It was sent to Mozambique, which makes sense why condoms were sent there," the reporter asked Musk.
"And how can we make sure that all the statements that you say are correct, so we can trust what you say?" she added.

However, he questioned the previous administration's decision saying, "I'm not sure we should be sending $50 million worth of condoms to anywhere, frankly. I'm not sure that's something Americans would be really excited about. And that is really an enormous number of condoms if you think about it. But if it went to Mozambique instead of Gaza, I'm like, OK, that's not as bad, but still, why are we doing that?"
