A Hindu man from the Marwari community was brutally assaulted by a filmmaker in Pakistan's Karachi on Monday, June 2. The incident took place in the upscale Defence Society area of the city. Kumar was attacked by Salman Farooqi, the CEO of Bionic Films, and his guards.

In another incident of the vulnerability of religious minorities in Pakistan, a Hindu man from the Marwari community was brutally assaulted by a filmmaker in Karachi on Monday, June 2. The incident took place in the upscale Defence Society area of the city. The victim has been identified as Dheeraj Kumar alias Sudhair Dhun Raj or Dhun Raj.
Kumar was attacked by Salman Farooqi, the CEO of Bionic Films, and his guards. Kumar has gone to the area to pick up his sister from a beauty parlour, where she works, reported News18. The victim was reportedly riding his motorcycle slowly through the area when his bike scratched Farooqi's luxury - Land Cruiser.

The incident was recorded on camera and the video soon went viral on social media. Kumar was dragged into the vehicle at gunpoint. In the car, guards could be seen slapping the young man, while the filmmaker was holding his hands. Meanwhile, Kalpana was seen requesting Farooqi with folded hands to leave his brother.
Kumar belongs to a marginalised group who lives in Karachi's Ranchhore Lines. They drew criticism from netizens after the video surfaced online. As the video went viral, Karachi Police arrested Farooqi and four others.
An FIR was registered under relevant sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including Section 506-B (criminal intimidation) and Section 354 (assault or harassment of a woman), reported News18. Farooqi's vehicle was also impounded.
