Los Angeles: In a major embarrassment for Pakistan, its envoy was denied entry in the United States. According to reports, Pakistan's ambassador to Turkmenistan KK Ahsan Wagan was reportedly from Los Angeles. Notably, Wagan was heading to Los Angeles on a vacation when he was stopped by the US immigration authorities stopped him at the airport, reported The News.

Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Secretary Amina Baloch were reportedly given details about the incident. After the incident, the Pakistani Foreign Affairs Ministry asked its consulate in Los Angeles to initiate a probe into the matter.

Wagan was denied entry into the US as immigration system detected "controversial visa references", the media house reported quoting sources. However, the US authorities have not provided any reasons for Wagan's deportation.

"Ambassador KK Wagan was deported from the US. He had an immigration objection which led to his deportation," a Pakistani Foreign Ministry official said as reported by India Today. Wagan was likely to be called back to Islamabad so that the ministry could know what exactly had happened.

Wagan had reportedly held key positions in Pakistan's foreign service. served as the second secretary at the Pakistani embassy in Kathmandu and was Pakistan's deputy consul general in Los Angeles

The development came a days after reports surfaced that United States President Donald Trump is likely to impose a new travel ban which could bar people from Afghanistan and Pakistan from entering the US.
