Last Footage Of Indian-Origin Student Sudiksha Konanki, Who Went Missing From Resort In Dominican Republic, Surfaced

Punta Cana: Days after Indian-origin student Sudiksha Konanki mysteriously went missing from a resort in the Dominican Republic, her last video from a beach on the Caribbean island surfaced on Wednesday, March 12. In the newly released surveillance footage, Konanki could seen walking with friends.

The video was first shared by Dominican news outlet Noticias SIN. In the video, the 20-year-old University of Pittsburgh student wearing a white t-shirt and shorts was seen walking with a man. They had put their arms around each other's backs. Her four other friends could also be seen in the clip. They were seen strolling along a resort pathway at the Riu Republica Resort.

The Indian-origin student has travelled to the Dominican Republic with five of her friends. On Thursday, March 6, Konanki and her friends reportedly partied at a disco at the resort until 3 am. All her friends left the resoort by 5:50 am. Konnki was alone with 24-year-old tourist from Iowa, Joshua Steven Ribe.

Notably, Ribe was the last person to be with the 20-year-old student. Ribe had changed his statement thrice. According to a report by NDTV, Ribe in his first statement had said that vomited from rough waves, left the water and checked if Konanki was alright. In another statement, he claimed that Konanki was in knee-deep water before he passed out due to his sickness. Meanwhile, in the third statement, Ribe stated that he had seen Konanki walking along the shore when he passed out.

According to local reports, the 20-year-old Indian-origin student was last seen swimming in the ocean wearing a bikini, and all her clothes were found in a beachside lounge. Authorities have been suspecting that the girl might have drowned, However, her family suspected suicide.

Konanki, originally from India, is a student at the University of Pittsburgh. She is a resident of Ashburn, Virginia. Konanki’s father, Subbarayudu Konanki, told CNN that she had gone to Punta Cana for spring break. As per her father, she wants to be a doctor.
