At least 23 people were injured after an amusement park ride malfunctioned in Saudi Arabia on Thursday.

Jeddah: At least 23 people were injured after an amusement park ride malfunctioned in Saudi Arabia on Thursday. The incident took place at Green Mountain Park in Taif. A video of the disturbing incident also surfaced online.

The video shows the central pole of the ride snapped in two parts. At the time of the incident, several young men and women were enjoying the ride. Among the injured, three are in critical condition, reported Khaleej Times.

In the video, it could be seen that the ride was swinging back and forth when the central pole broke into two halves. One of the persons could be seen thrown several metres after the crash. The ride malfunction resulted in moderate to severe injuries.

Video Of The Incident:

The ride, known as '360 Degrees' collapsed as its pole recoiled at high speed, reported the media house, quoting an eyewitness. Two or three people were thrown in opposite directions when the central pole collapsed, while others sustained injuries after the ride directly fell onto the ground while they remained seated.

Emergency services were immediately pressed into a rescue operation. An investigation has been launched to find out the reason for the collapse.

A similar incident took place in Delhi in April this year, when a a roller coaster accident at Fun N Food Water Park near Kapashera in South West Delhi collapsed. A 24-year-old woman died in the incident. According to reports, the victim, identified as Priyanka, was visiting the amusement park with her fiance when the ride malfunctioned.
