Video Of Watermelon Lover Adding The Fruit To Pizza, Chai And Even 'Masala' Dosa Goes Viral

Watermelon is a beloved summer companion—hydrating, cooling, and perfect to beat the heat. But should it go in everything? Of course, no.

While enjoying watermelon as chilled slices or fresh juice is totally normal, replacing jalapeños with it on a pizza is not quite the thought for many. That’s where many draw the line and step back from bizarre food experiments.

A recent viral video, however, dared to try the fruit in unexplored ways. Well, all for the craze of reels.

In a reel posted by Swiggy Instamart on Instagram, watermelon chunks are picked from a plate and added to popular Indian dishes. The video shows the juicy melon being paired with items that, frankly, should’ve remained untouched.

The clip begins with a piece of watermelon being dipped into a cup of chai. If that wasn’t enough to make you cringe, hold on—the watermelon then makes its way onto a pizza, inside a 'masala' dosa, and even tossed into bowls of sev and namkeen.

The post’s caption read: “Send this to a watermelon lover.”

Netizens react

As expected, reactions poured in, and they were mixed.

"Bhujia with watermelon isn’t a bad idea actually, try karke dekhta hoon (I'll give it a try and see)", one user said, surprisingly open to experimentation.

"Pineapple on pizza se toh acha hi lagega yeh(This might actually taste better than pineapple on pizza)", another added.

"Watermelon, hum sharminda hain"

But not everyone welcomed the watermelon to classic recipes.

"Pure chai ka maza kirkira kar diya ( You completely ruined the joy of tea)", a tea lover angrily expressed.

And in true desi style, one witty user wrote, "Watermelon, hum sharminda hain, Instamart ka admin bada ganda hai (Watermelon, we’re ashamed. Instamart’s admin is really bad)".

Love it or loathe it, the video definitely grabbed attention and left not only watermelon lovers but people across social media in laughter.

Uploaded earlier this May, the clip has already gone viral with 1.7 lakh views and over a thousand likes.
