Like Simba, a few other dogs are being trained and deployed at earthquake-affected sites to rescue people breathing for life under the rubble. The country has trained rescue dogs to help them locate survivors buried under a high-rise building that dramatically collapsed in Chatuchak, Bangkok on Friday.
K9 Usar Thailand, a national rescue dog organization, is posting several videos of furry friends joining the rescue ops. It was learned that along with Simba, K9 Naree, Sahara, and a few other dogs were made part of the rescue mission in the country's capital city.
"It is the link between “people” and “dogs” who perform the same function—searching for and rescuing lost people", the organisation wrote on Facebook.
"Behind every confident step of a rescue dog is the careful decision of the handler to provide stability, comfort and—most importantly—a greater chance of saving a life", read another post, suggesting the dogs were given safety equipment and a human handler before walking it through the rubble.
