Monkeys from Vrindavan have often made headlines for snatching personal belongings of devotees and returning them only after a sip of Frooti. However, less known are the notorious monkeys from the South.
A monkey at Tamil Nadu's popular travel destination, Kodaikanal, snatched a bundle of Rs. 500 notes from a tourist and climbed up a nearby tree, leaving the person worried. The animal sat on a branch and pulled out one note after another. A video showing the monkey 'showering' cash has gone viral.

In the clip, the monkey is seen holding the currency bundle in its hands shortly before letting go of the stolen money. The notes were tied with a rubber band. This animal tried to pull out one note after another and empty the cash within seconds. It threw all the money down.
The video opened by showing the monkey removing currency notes from the bundle while being seated above the tree. Seconds later, it turned around as if it realised someone was recording its doings with the stolen amount.
Kodaikanal monkey menace
Hindi news channel Aaj Tak posted the now-viral video on social media and mentioned that the incident was reported near the Guna Caves in Kodaikanal. The monkey reportedly stole the cash from a Karnataka-based tourist.
Notably, there are many videos and reports of such monkey menace at the tourist spot. Last year, a vlogger Daniel Jainraj shared a footage of being attacked by the monkey during his visit to the caves. "Scary Monkey attacked Us in Guna Cave. Don't come here. If you want the monkeys to bite you, come here," he said in the video.
