These posts capture a heartwarming AI trend where users transform their real-life moments into dreamy Studio Ghibli-style illustrations.
In one of the posts, a little boy, dressed in comfy striped pyjamas, was seen sitting with headphones on, engrossed in his laptop. But right next to it, the X user posted how the AI tool added an animated touch to the image by making it softer, colours warmer, and his laptop screen showing an adorable pink octopus, giving off pure Ghibli vibes. Similarly, another post showed a couple posing with their dog, alongside its AI version appearing to have come straight out of a Miyazaki film.
Elon Musk joins the trend
Elon Musk also joined the Ghibli-generated image trend and uploaded a photo of him resonating with the much-loved musical drama 'The Lion King'. He tweaked the iconic scene from the film, where Rafiki, the wise mandrill, lifts Simba, the newborn lion cub, atop Pride Rock in a ceremonial presentation to the animal kingdom. Giving it a spin, Musk's Ghibli version showed him holding Kabosu, the Shiba inu which inspired the DOGE meme.
Nostalgia for Prisma users
A similar trend took the internet by storm in 2016. A photo editing app named Prisma went viral for its unique artistic filters. Similar to how Ghibli has created a wave online now, this app impressed people years ago.
Prisma users were hit by nostalgia as this new trend of AI-based images surfaced. While many posted Ghibli-inspired photos, these netizens shared Prisma-edited visuals on social media.
"Now it’s Ghibli images, but do you remember the Prisma images trend back then?", one wrote while remembering about the period when this photo editing app took became popular. "These ghibli pictures are reminding me of the prisma and b612 phase", added another.
