Drunk On Duty UP Police Inspector Fails To 'Walk In Straight Line', Breaches Traffic Laws; Netizens Demand Strict Action

Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh: A shameful incident has come to light from Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, where a police inspector responsible for law and order was seen flouting the law. A video went viral on social media on Thursday afternoon in the Lambhua Kotwali area, in which Sub Inspector Shyam Kumar Singh, posted at Shivgarh police station, was seen heavily drunk while on duty.

In the video, the inspector can be seen arguing with locals when they started point out him for being intoxicated. He was asked to walk in a straight line. While doing so, he was seen stumbling while walking and crossing the railway track. He also crossed the railway crossing despite the railway gate being closed and came very close to the train while walking on the track. Thankfully, no major accident occurred. A home guard was also seen with him, who was unable to control their condition.

According to the locals, the inspector, in a drunken state not only breached the traffic rules but also abused and misbehaved with the people. When someone protested, he lost his temper and used indecent language.

Inspector Breaches Traffic Rules

It is worth noting that the bike on which the inspector and the home guard were riding did not have a number plate, and neither of them were wearing helmets. People have taken this matter seriously and have demanded action from the higher authorities.

Legal Action:

CO Lambhua Abdul Salam gave a statement on this matter and said that the viral video is being investigated, and the report has been sent to the higher authorities. If found guilty in the investigation, strict action will be taken against Inspector Shyam Kumar Singh.

Local people also told that during his previous posting in Kadipur, complaints were received against the inspector for performing duty after drinking alcohol, on which departmental action was taken.
